Baby Room (0-2 years)
Our baby room is a safe, nurturing environment for the tiniest of children entrusted to us. We follow the home routines of each baby as closely as possible and are delighted to share experiences with you. Talking to babies is important and we respond in a warm and consistent way, giving close and relaxed contact. There is a quiet sleep room which contrasts with the busy play area, where your child can explore and make discoveries about their world. Weather permitting, your baby may be taken for walks or enjoy time in the garden.
Two –Three Area
We have a special play area for this age group which is appropriate for their stage of learning. It offers both challenging and familiar activities which have been planned to meet individual needs and interests.
Three – Five Area
The nursery is in partnership with Perth & Kinross Council which enables you to access funding from the local authority, once your child is eligible. We follow the Scottish Executive 3-5 Curriculum Framework guidelines and are inspected annually by the Care Commission and every three years by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education. We use observations to plan and extend children’s learning, taking into account the individual ways in which each child learns.
Meals
If you child has an early start at nursery (8-9am), we can provide breakfast for them. We offer a snack mid morning and afternoon, a choice of healthy foods and milk or water. Nursery lunches can be provided for a small additional cost, or parents can supply a packed lunch.
Staff
The majority of our staff are fully qualified with either a HNC in Child Care and Education or SVQ 3. Two staff are studying to complete a SVQ 3 in mid-2006. The nursery is owned and managed by myself, Mary Storrar. I am a qualified State Registered Nurse with a HNC in Child Care and Education. At present I am studying for a BA degree in Early Childhood Studies. I am a mother of two children and have worked in a variety of child care setting for the past 13 years.
